Hi-Purit™ Amino 40–63 µm Flash Cartridges are solid-phase extraction (SPE) or flash chromatography cartridges pre-packed with amino-functionalized silica (NH₂-silica) with particle sizes between 40–63 microns. These are typically used in organic synthesis, natural products purification, and pharmaceutical research for separating compounds based on polarity and other interactions.
Primary Uses of Hi-Purit™ Amino Flash Cartridges:
1. Normal-Phase Chromatography
Amino cartridges can act like mildly polar stationary phases, allowing separation of moderately polar compounds under normal-phase conditions (non-polar mobile phase like hexane/ethyl acetate).
Used when silica gel is too polar or causes tailing or strong retention.
2. Weak Anion Exchange (WAX) Chromatography
The amino groups can act as weak anion exchangers in aqueous or polar organic solvents (like methanol/water or acetonitrile).
Useful for capturing acidic compounds (e.g., carboxylic acids, sulfonates) via ionic interactions.
3. Purification of Sugars, Carbohydrates, and Nucleotides
Amino-functionalized phases have affinity for hydrophilic molecules, often used in separating sugars or polyols.
Effective in HILIC (Hydrophilic Interaction Liquid Chromatography) mode.
4. Removal of Pigments or Acidic Impurities
Amino cartridges are often used in sample cleanup, especially in food or plant extract purification.
Can selectively retain acidic components, allowing neutral and basic components to elute first.
5. Flash Purification in Medicinal Chemistry
Frequently used in automated flash chromatography systems (like Biotage or Teledyne ISCO).
Enables rapid purification of intermediate and final drug candidates, especially when basic amines or acidic byproducts are present.
