Amber glass: Blocks or attenuates light, which helps when samples are photolabile. Also, amber glass often has different borosilicate expansion classification (Type I, Class B 51-expansion for amber) for consistency in manufacturing.
Screw top with septa: Facilitates reliable sealing, injection via autosampler needles through septa, re‐sealing if necessary, compatibility with robotic systems. The “9 mm short thread” is recurrent in LC/MS vial specs.
“LCMS certified”: This means the vials and caps are lot‐tested to rule out contamination, have minimal pH shift, are manufactured to reduce surface activity (which could adsorb analytes) or metal leaching (which could interfere with mass spec).
Low residual volume / high recovery: Some kits are designed to minimize the leftover sample volume (important when sample is precious) so the autosampler needle can access nearly all of it.
